ONE LOVE SCHOOL PROJECTS

The International Society organises various school projects for you to get involved in. The RocketWorld, Bee Hippy Happy and Earth Asylum projects will take you out to local schools so you can share your culture with the children. The projects feature the EarthBall: a giant inflatable Earth with NASA satellite imagery and volunteers from over 10 different countries.

INTERNATIONAL 16

International 16 is a unique project that brings together a diverse group of 16 students from 16 countries. The 16 students change each year and are selected through interviews which will begin from Monday 24th September for 2 weeks. The interviews are relaxed, informal and for us to get to know you better.

If selected, you will be part of a unique cultural and educational experience and will organise various cultural evenings here at the Society. Experience in organising events is not required however hard work, willingness to learn and openness to other cultures is a must.

This project aims to bring people together to learn about each other’s culture as well as learning life lessons along the way.

Please note that the International 16 is an academic year long project which begins in September and last until May.

HOSPITALITY SCHEME

The Hospitality Scheme arranges for students to visit a British home on a number of occasions during their time in Manchester. This gives them the chance to experience something of everyday British life. Once linked with a family, students are invited to the home to share in a meal, perhaps Sunday lunch, afternoon tea or even a day trip out with the family.

The Hospitality Scheme is currently CLOSED due to the number of applications. We will review the situation in February 2019 to see if any more places have become available.

FAMILIES GROUP

Come along and meet families, children and babies from all over the world. The group meets on Thursdays from 3.30pm and there is a selection of toys and children’s books available for all to play with, as well as organised activities and tea and biscuits!

Members of the group also benefit from day trips out with the Society throughout the year.
