Wednesday Socials

Wednesdays from 3.00 pm

Free (MEMBERS ONLY EVENT)

Free tea and coffee for members to come in and have a chat, play board/card games or just to relax with a cup of tea and a biscuit. Places are limited so book a space online and join us every Wednesday between 3 pm and 5 pm.

During term-time we also run Friday socials.

World of Words: International Poetry Night

Come and join us for this year’s international poetry evening on the eve of World Poetry Day. You will get the chance to hear your peers perform poems from all over the world (some may be in several different languages) and get to meet new friends through the creative, entertaining and spirited medium of poetry. If you are interested in performing (you will get a free ticket), please sign up using the form below. If not, just come prepared to listen, enjoy and cheer on the brave poets. Light refreshments will be provided. 

Please note: you can read your own poems or a published poets.

Japanese Evening

It is the time of the year cherry blossoms start blooming again, and the new school year begins in Japan.

Come and enjoy this special season by tasting a variety of delicious food, served in traditional Japanese luch boxes called obento. You will also be able to experience exciting Japanese activities and games! 

Limited tickets are available from our office on Oxford Road and online (via link above). Purchasing tickets in advance is needed as we do not sell tickets at the door. Tickets are selling fast, so do not hesitate to get yours!

*Halal and vegetarian options are also available upon request when purchasing your ticket.

Global Feast Food Night

An evening for all the foodies out there: come along and celebrate food from all over the world! Make your favourite dish from your home country and bring it along to the Society for our global feast.

You can bring a typical snack, a main dish or even a traditional dessert!
A fun opportunity to try new food and learn about dishes from a variety of countries.

When you register for this evening, you need to let us know what dish you are going to bring and the ingredients you will be using so we can be aware of dietary requirements.

Int Soc Book Club

Murder Mystery Meal

Singaporean Evening

A cultural evening is an evening where we showcase the culture and customs of a particular country. We start by having a small presentation about the country followed by traditional games, dances, and not forgetting traditional home cooked food from the country

Global Gathering: A Summer Festival

Feel the festive vibes in our garden space at the Society and celebrate the end of exams in true festival fashion! There will be music, food stalls, face glitter and many more surprises! Choose your most vibrant, summery outfit and join us for our end of semester party.

EVENT POLICY

WHERE DO THE EVENTS TAKE PLACE?
The majority of our events take place at our main building: 327 Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PG. If an event takes place at a different location, the details will be in the text for the event and in your ticket.

CAN I CHANGE MY TICKET?
Yes, however you will need to bring your ticket to the office at least one week in advance of the event taking place. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

CAN I GET A REFUND?
Refunds for our cultural evenings are given if you bring your ticket to the office at least one week in advance of the event taking place. Refund policy for our other events may vary at our discretion,

PLEASE NOTE
No money can be refunded if you do not show up on the day of the event or are late. The Society and staff cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss, or injury sustained by participants in international society events.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH EVENTS

The International Society holds a wide variety of events throughout the year and all are organised by our dedicated volunteers. Our national evenings are organised exclusively by the International 16.

The group is selected through interviews at the start of the year and work together on the national evenings and other projects all year long. To find out more about the International 16 and how to apply to take part click on the link below.
