Enjoy new experiences
The International Society hold all kinds of events throughout the year. There are several cultural evenings every term where our wonderful volunteers will teach you about all about their country and culture, provide you with several courses of home-cooked traditional food, as well as entertaining you with traditional stories, dances and games. There is also the Hospitality Scheme where you can visit a traditional British family as well as weekly 5-a-side football with players from all over the world.
Our events are organised by the International 16 project; a group of 16 students from 16 different countries who work, learn and play together throughout the year. For more information about the International 16 and how to apply, please click the link below.
Home from home
The Hospitality Scheme arranges for students to visit a British home on a number of occasions during their time in Manchester. This gives them the chance to experience something of everyday British life. Once linked with a family, students are invited to the home to share in a meal, perhaps Sunday lunch, afternoon tea or even a day trip out with the family. To apply to take part please click on the link below. Please note that the Hospitality Scheme is available only to International Society MEMBERS.
Unfortunately, due to high demand, we may not always be able to link you with a family, but we will always get back to you and let you know either way.
Everyone welcome (even Messi and Ronaldo...)
We play regular 5-a-side (and occasionally larger-sided) football at the Armitage Centre in Fallowfield. The games are friendly and informal, with players from all over the world. All abilities, all ages, all fitness-levels are welcome and nobody keeps score! The games cost £3 for members and £4 for non-members (for a one hour game). The games are organised from our mailing list so sign up and join in!
