Weekly Socials

Wednesdays 3.30pm @ St Peter’s House Chaplaincy

Free (MEMBERS ONLY EVENT)

Come along and meet new friends or have a catch up over tea, coffee and biscuits. Board/card games are also provided so you can spend the afternoon playing them together or just to relax with a cup of tea and biscuit.

Places are limited so you will need to book a space online for our Wednesday and Friday Socials. For Thursday Social (also known as International Cafe in collaboration with Salford SU), you just need to show up!

Please bring your thermos along to our socials and help us reduce the disposable cups used.  You can even fill it up to take it away with you afterwards: a lovely, warm drink for your journey home!

Language Exchange

We will meet on Wednesdays on the following date: 5th Feb, 4th Mar, 1st Apr and 1st May – venue to be confirmed

Learning a language and want to meet native speakers? Or simply curious about how to say certain phrases in another language? Join one of our language exchanges to learn from each other and make friends while there. Make sure to book your ticket in advance and include the languages you are interested in and which ones you can offer.

Christmas Wreath Making

Wednesday 11th December 6.30pm – 8.00pm

Celebrate the festive season with us and make your very own Christmas wreath! No previous wreath making skills required, just a little bit of creativity. 

Price includes wreath, materials as well as mince pies and a warming festive drink.

Confused by Christmas? We’ll help you understand the strange mix of traditions, customs and symbols encountered at our winter festival, using popular Christmas carols and songs. Plenty of opportunity to sing along with our regular folk music band, make friends, meet British people, and taste some of the special things we eat and drink at this time of the year.

EVENT POLICY

WHERE DO THE EVENTS TAKE PLACE?
The majority of our events take place at the University of Manchester’s Students’ Union: Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PR. If an event takes place at a different location, the details will be in the text for the event and in your ticket.

CAN I CHANGE MY TICKET?
Yes, however you will need to bring your ticket to the office at least one week in advance of the event taking place. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

CAN I GET A REFUND?
Please let us know at least one week in advance of the event taking place if you know that you are unable to go. Please note that ticket money cannot be refunded for events unless the ticket is resold after we have sold our own tickets. A cancellation charge of £1.00 per ticket is made. 


PLEASE NOTE
No money can be refunded if you do not show up on the day of the event or are late. The Society and staff cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss, or injury sustained by participants in international society events.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITH EVENTS

The International Society holds a wide variety of events throughout the year and all are organised by our dedicated volunteers. Our national evenings are organised exclusively by the International 16.

The group is selected through interviews at the start of the year and work together on the national evenings and other projects all year long. To find out more about the International 16 and how to apply to take part click on the link below.
