THURSDAY 11th August 5.30PM

COUNTRYSIDE WALK

AT DANE AND BOLLIN VALLEYS

Come with us on a countryside walk this Thursday!

As Manchester suburbs spread over the years ever further from the city centre, villages such as Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall were swallowed up into a continuous built-up area. Only the river valleys and a few adjoining farms still retain their semi-natural character. We’ll take a gentle walk along the wooded banks and meadows of the Ladybrook river from Cheadle Hulme station, under a spectacular railway viaduct, along to Bramall Hall. The Hall, in parts 500 years old, is surrounded by a lovely park with woods and lakes and is one of the most beautiful surviving Tudor buildings in Cheshire, well worth a longer visit on another day.

These walks are planned and guided by your guides, Anna and Andrew. They are a local retired couple who are volunteers for the International Society and have been leading walks for members for over 15 years.

Event policy

Have any questions about our events? Find out more below.

Where do the events take place?

Our events will be taking place online and in-person on campus. For our in-person events, this will be hosted at various venues across the University of Manchester.

Updated Covid Policy April 2022

As the last remaining Covid restrictions have ended, we have reviewed our policy in line with the government’s guidelines and plan. As part of the government’s Living with Covid plan, from the 1st of April lateral flow tests will no longer be provided for free. As such, we will also no longer be asking our members to take a lateral flow test prior to attending our activities. However, we do ask our members to continue watching out for each other’s health and welfare by not attending our activities if you are feeling unwell or have covid like symptoms such as a temperature, runny nose or a headache.

You are welcome to wear a face mask when attending our activities and we will continue to maintain a high cleaning standard to ensure your safety at all times.

Best wishes,

Staff of the International Society.

Our events will be taking place online and in-person on campus. For our in-person events, this will be hosted at various venues across the University of Manchester.

How are we making our events safe for you?

Most of our events include refreshments and our trips will require you to be sat on a coach for an extended period of time. As such, we have made the decision to require all participants to undertake a lateral flow test before attending our activities.

The reason we are asking all participants to perform a lateral flow test is because most of our members are international students and we understand that some of you may not have yet had access to the Covid vaccine or have a vaccine that is not being recognised in the UK and as such are not able to obtain a Covid pass. In this way, we want to do the best we possibly can to ensure that you are able to make friendships and have a great time at university.

Please see our full covid policy for more details on obtaining a lateral flow and reporting your test results.

In order to keep everyone safe and for us to continue organising our events in a safe way for everyone, we highly recommend that all participants download the NHS track and trace app here and continue to wear a face mask while walking around inside buildings.

Staff will be wearing PPE such as masks or visors and disposable gloves when handling food.

Please do not attend an event on campus if you have symptoms of Covid-19, including a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.
