Volunteer: events

Updated Covid Policy April 2022
As the last remaining Covid restrictions have ended, we have reviewed our policy in line with the government’s guidelines and plan. As part of the government’s Living with Covid plan, from the 1st of April lateral flow tests will no longer be provided for free. As such, we will also no longer be asking our members to take a lateral flow test prior to attending our activities. However, we do ask our members to continue watching out for each other’s health and welfare by not attending our activities if you are feeling unwell or have covid like symptoms such as a temperature, runny nose or a headache.
You are welcome to wear a face mask when attending our activities and we will continue to maintain a high cleaning standard to ensure your safety at all times.
Best wishes,
Staff of the International Society.

How are we making our events safe for you?
Most of our events include refreshments and our trips will require you to be sat on a coach for an extended period of time. As such, we have made the decision to require all participants to undertake a lateral flow test before attending our activities.
The reason we are asking all participants to perform a lateral flow test is because most of our members are international students and we understand that some of you may not have yet had access to the Covid vaccine or have a vaccine that is not being recognised in the UK and as such are not able to obtain a Covid pass. In this way, we want to do the best we possibly can to ensure that you are able to make friendships and have a great time at university.
Please see our full covid policy for more details on obtaining a lateral flow and reporting your test results.
In order to keep everyone safe and for us to continue organising our events in a safe way for everyone, we highly recommend that all participants download the NHS track and trace app here and continue to wear a face mask while walking around inside buildings.
Staff will be wearing PPE such as masks or visors and disposable gloves when handling food.
Please do not attend an event on campus if you have symptoms of Covid-19, including a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.
