The Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The day will be spent in Bowness-on-Windermere, a great base for walking, taking a boat ride (additional cost) or simply relaxing and taking in the amazing views of the Lake!

SATURDAY 22ND JULY 

8.30AM – 8PM

£28 MEMBERS/ £33 NON MEMBERS/ £23 CHILDREN (AGED 2 – 16)

The full day will be spent in the picturesque ancient fishing port of Whitby, set on the North Sea – one of the most attractive seaside towns on the East coast. 

There is the opportunity to visit the 13th Century Abbey, stroll around the harbour as well as enjoy the fresh air of a day at the seaside and maybe sample the best fish and chips England has to offer!

SUNDAY 30TH JULY

8.30AM – 7.30PM

Join us on a visit to Keswick, the Adventure Capital of the Lake District and stunning for a lovely walk!

Keswick is the perfect base for a day’s hiking in the countryside, a visit to Castlerigg Stone Circle or a walk or boat trip round Derwentwater! Today, you also have the option of going to Whinlatter Forest Park… England’s only true mountain forest park.

SUNDAY 6TH AUGUST

Join us on a tour of Anglesey, the largest island in England and Wales!   

It is an island famous for its historic sites and its coastline and has been designated an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty! A professional guide from the North Wales Tourist Office will take you on a coach tour of the island to give insight into the history and culture of this very picturesque island!

Conwy and Llandudno are two of the top 10 places to visit in North Wales!

The first stop of the day is the World Heritage site, Conwy Castle, an outstanding example of medieval military architecture. You will have time here to explore the castle and have a look around the town of Conwy itself … perhaps visit Britain’s smallest house!  The afternoon will then be spent in Llandudno, Wales’ largest seaside resort, a Victorian gem! There is lots on offer here from the beach with its pier to some of the best views Wales has to offer from the Great Orme.

The Peak District is an area of outstanding natural beauty with moors and dales, rivers, springs and caverns. 

At Poole’s Cavern, a guided tour will lead you through the limestone caverns to see the crystal stalactites that have lined the chambers for over millions of years! You will also have time to take a stroll through beautiful woodlands to Solomon’s temple hilltop. Then onto Buxton, England’s highest spa town nestled in the heart of the Peak District to spend the afternoon.

SATURDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER

8.30AM – 8PM

Come with us to see the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Our first stop of the day is Bolton Abbey, a great place to spend time in the outdoors on the banks of the River Wharfe. Wander the woodland paths to the money tree, explore the priory ruins, stepping stones or simply relax! Then onto the beautiful market town of Skipton with its impressive medieval castle! Time for lunch here and a look around the town for the afternoon. It is market day today too!

Good walking clothing and shoes are essential for this trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where's the pick-up point for the trips?

The coach pick-up point is at the bus stop on Upper Brook Street between Brunswick and Dover Street (click here for the map) .This pick-up takes place at the time stated on the website and on your ticket. We advise that you arrive 10 minutes beforehand.

What's the Covid Policy Sept 2022?

Lateral flow tests are not required to go on the trips. You are welcome to wear a face mask when attending our trips if you would prefer to do so and it makes you feel more
comfortable.

We ask our members to continue watching out for each other’s health and welfare by not attending our trips if you are feeling unwell or have covid like symptoms such as a
temperature, runny nose or a headache.

Can I bring my children on the trips?

You are welcome to bring your children on trips. Aged 2 and under go for FREE on the day trips if seated on your lap on the coach and with fitted with a secure seat belt over both of you. If require a seat for a very young child or a baby seat then you will need to pay the child ticket price. All children over two years of age need a seat. Children are not allowed on coach trips unless accompanied by an adult.

I'm not an international student, can I still go on the trips?

Yes you can! Our trips are open to all – students and non students. 

Can I cancel my trip and get a refund?
Yes you can if you inform the office one week in advance by phone or email to let us know that you wish to cancel your place on the trip.
We can then cancel your ticket and offer a refund for your ticket once we have sold all of our tickets on sale. A cancellation charge of £1.00 is made per ticket.  Tickets bought online will be refunded to the card used to pay for your ticket and take 3 working days to process. ULC students who receive free tickets paid for by their course cannot change to another trip once they are booked.

 

Will the trip still go ahead in bad weather conditions such as heavy rain?

Yes, it will! Rain or shine, we still travel in the UK.  Please check the weather forecast before you go and wear appropriate clothing such as a waterproof jacket and good footwear for rainy days.  The International Society will email to inform you if a trip is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.
