HOW TO BOOK

  • The amount of trips (with a value of up to £30) and socials events that you qualify for will be assigned to you by the ULC department during your first week on your English Summer Programme. 
  • Please note International Society is open from 9.30am to 5.00pm.  You must book your tickets at any time during these office hours. We advise you to book your tickets as soon as possible.  We recommend at least one week in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • Please bring your student ID card and/or passport to International Society reception to book on the trip(s)/ social event(s) of your choice.
  • You cannot give your tickets to other people.

  • Any trips priced over £30 require will require an extra cash/card payment for the difference in price.  
  • Please note you cannot get tickets for the trips on the day of the trip itself.  All tickets must be booked in advance of the trip taking place.
  • Please consider other people’s health and welfare by not attending our activities if you are feeling unwell or have covid like symptoms such as a temperature, runny nose or a headache.

Upcoming TRIPS & events

Our pick-up point: The coach pick-up point is at the bus stop on Upper Brook Street between Brunswick and Dover Street. (click here for the map)  This pick-up takes place at the time stated on the website and on your ticket. We advise that you arrive 10 minutes beforehand.

York is a very attractive, historic city in Yorkshire attracting visitors from all over the world. You will have the entire day to spend at your leisure exploring the city at your own pace taking in the medieval Shambles, the York Minster and perhaps learning something about the city’s Viking history! For all those Harry Potter fans, York is even more special to you!

Sunday 14TH AUGUST

8.30AM – 7.30PM

£25 members/ £30 non members/ £20 children (aged 5 -16) / £12 children (aged 2-4)

Why not join us on a visit to the awe-spiring World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and the beautiful spa town of Harrogate?

Discover Fountain’s Abbey, the largest monastic ruins in England and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  You will have the morning here to explore the ancient abbey ruins along with Studley Royal, the awe-inspiring water gardens.  Then onto the pretty Victorian spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire .. why not try afternoon tea at Betty’s tearooms?

A walking tour of the campus and city centre. Come along while we take you on foot to see some sights and learn more about this lovely city.

Saturday 20TH AUGUST

Join us on a visit to the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site and an area of outstanding natural beauty

The day will be spent in Bowness-on-Windermere, a great base for walking, taking a boat ride or simply relaxing and taking in the amazing views of the Lake!

Join us on a visit to one of the top university towns in the UK!

Oxford is world famous for being one of the top University cities. You will have the entire day here to spend at your leisure … either visiting the many University colleges or some of the city’s interesting museums and Art Galleries!

The home of The Beatles, culture and sport, Liverpool has something for everyone. One of the best cities in the world for architecture, the Royal Albert Dock area is a must see. It is a vibrant place full of hotels, shops, restaurants and museums and is home to exciting events.

An area of outstanding beauty, why not join us on a trip to the Cotswolds?

This trip offers you a full day’s guided coach tour of the picturesque Cotswolds area. A professional tour guide from the Cotswolds will accompany the group throughout the day and give you insight into the history and culture of these quaint, pretty villages surrounded by rolling hills. It really is like stepping back in time!

Explore 2 of the top 10 places in Wales to visit in one day with us!

The first stop of the day is the World Heritage site, Conwy Castle, an outstanding example of medieval military architecture. You will have time here to explore the castle and have a look around the town of Conwy itself … perhaps visit Britain’s smallest house too!  The afternoon will then be spent in Llandudno, Wales’ largest seaside resort, a Victorian gem! There is lots on offer here from the beach with its pier to spectacular views from the Great Orme.

SUNDAY 28TH AUGUST

Join us on a visit to Shakespeare’s hometown!

Stratford is most famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. You will have the chance to visit several Shakespeare properties including his birthplace while you are there and also to explore the picturesque town.

Join us on a visit to one of the most popular seaside towns in the UK!

The full day will be spent in the picturesque ancient fishing port of Whitby, set on the North Sea – one of the most interesting and attractive seaside towns on the East coast.  There is the opportunity to visit the locations where the author Bram Stoker set his novel “Dracula”, visit the 13th Century Abbey, stroll around the harbour or visit the Captain Cook museum as well as enjoy the fresh air of a day at the seaside and maybe sample the best fish and chips England has to offer!

SUNDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER

Come along with us to visit Keswick, the adventure capital of the Lake District!

Keswick is a pretty market town in North Cumbria with lots to do whether it be a boat ride on the Derwent Water or exploring the town’s many shops and museums.  Keswick is also a perfect base for a day’s walking in the countryside.   One particular beautiful walk is that to Castlerigg Stone Circle just outside Keswick! Today, you have the option of also going to Whinlatter Forest Park… England’s only true mountain forest park. An excellent trip for those who enjoy beautiful countryside scenery!

Join us on a visit to stunning Yorkshire.
The first stop of the day is Skipton known as “the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales”, a pretty market town perhaps mpst famous for its medieval castle. Today is also Market Day! The afternoon will then be spent at Bolton Abbey, a great place to spend time outdoors along the banks of the River Wharfe whether walking or relaxing.
